In the final quarter of 2020, to give impetus to the revival of consumption on the key Travel Retail market, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA reveals new additions to its flagship Mouton Cadet and Escudo Rojo brands. MOUTON CADET Although its classic wines are still at the heart of Mouton Cadet, other ranges have enhanced the brand over the years to complete an offering that spans the entire Bordeaux vineyard. Among this year’s newcomers, Mouton Cadet Héritage, a tribute to the brand’s origins, embraces a new market. New appellations are added to the Réserve range, with new packaging and an opportunity for consumers to immerse themselves in each appellation. In another highlight, from the 2020 vintage all Mouton Cadet classic wines (red, white, rosé and Sauvignon Blanc) will have HVE High Environmental Value certification. Réserve Mouton Cadet: discovering the wealth of the great Bordeaux appellations The Réserve Mouton Cadet range offers a mouth-watering tour of the most prestigious Bordeaux appellations: Saint-Émilion, Pauillac, Médoc, Haut-Médoc, Graves, Sauternes, Margaux, Saint-Estèphe and Pessac-Léognan. Made from grapes grown in these exceptional terroirs, each of the ten wines is an invitation to discover the subtle aromas and flavours and unique characteristics of its appellation. Three new appellations – Margaux, Saint-Estèphe and Pessac-Léognan – have been added to the Réserve Mouton Cadet range, whose new packaging highlights the name of the appellation. The back label features a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone to access a dedicated web page. As well as providing key information which summarises the essence of each appellation, it guides consumers in their choice, including tasting notes for the wine and advice on food-and-wine pairings. It offers a quick and easy immersion into the Mouton Cadet Réserve universe for each of the appellations in the range. Mouton Cadet Héritage combines the Bordeaux tradition of blending with the Rothschild ‘family’ values of authenticity and excellence. ESCUDO ROJO The entire Escudo Rojo range has been revamped to mark the brand’s 20th anniversary. Escudo Rojo Reserva offers an opportunity to discover the different grape varieties grown in the Maipo Valley or, with Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva, to rediscover the brand’s signature wine, a hallmark blend of Chilean and Bordeaux varieties. It also features a new premium wine: Escudo Rojo Origine, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Escudo Rojo thus offers a comprehensive range of wines which reveal the finest expressions of both French and native grape varieties in Chile’s rich terroirs. Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva: the worthy heir of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in Chile When you open a bottle of Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva, you are renewing acquaintance with the most refined and elegant expression of French and native grape varieties rooted in the finest Chilean terroirs. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are blended in perfect harmony. A high-quality wine, it demonstrates Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s mastery of the art of blending. Escudo Rojo Reserva: the expression of French and Chilean grape varieties If Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva is the brand’s flagship wine and an embodiment of the art of blending as practised by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in Chile, the Escudo Rojo universe also includes a Reserva range which reveals the finest expressions of white and red grape varieties from selected Chilean terroirs. The Escudo Rojo Reserva range comprises six varietal wines: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. Escudo Rojo Origine This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine is made from grapes grown in a selection of the best micro-parcels of the Maipo Valley vineyard. A perfect understanding of the soils and vineyards, coupled with expert knowledge of how to vinify this flagship grape, have produced a wine of considerable stature.
